Today's featured entertainer is the Big Mischief Big Band:
"Big Mischief is a big band founded and led by trumpeter Jason Garcia. It’s namesake was inspired by Jason’s 4 year old son who loves to tinker with things to figure out how they work. Big Mischief’s playful nature is evident in its enjoyment of performing a wide variety of jazz styles. Many of these come in the form of exciting, original arrangements written by the band’s composer and 3rd trumpeter, Brent Irwin. It can perform with as many as 17 pieces, but is usually a 10 piece group. The smaller size can pack a powerful punch; a credit to the skill and experience of its musicians. It’s members are from the Seattle, Tacoma, and Olympia area and have decades of experience with careers in music education, freelancing, and U.S. military bands. The band has enjoyed collaborating with numerous exceptionally talented vocalists"

Our next featured entertainer is singer and guitar player, Gary Benson:
"I travel from West Seattle…and I’ve been singing and playing acoustic music since my college days….yet my love of music began long before, in the days of listening to a tiny transistor radio pressed to my ear as a youth. My musical influences have been James Taylor, Simon & Garfunkel, Crosby/Stills/Nash, the Beatles, Shawn Colvin, Kenny Loggins, Tom Petty and other artists of that era up to today. Currently I’ve been playing the Coffeehouse and open air venues in the Seattle/Bellevue/Issaquah areas over the past 12 years.
I like to say that “I play the songs I grew up with”— Gary Benson… ‘Music from the Heart’!"

Our next entertainer is the bluegrass quintet, Ryegrass:
"Ryegrass has been playing as a Bluegrass band in the Seattle area since the turn of the century. Individually they’ve been at it for decades. John Burke picked with core revivalist folkies of the ‘60’s and helped bring fiddlers Benny Thomasson and Mark O’Connor into the limelight. Steve Marx on banjo is a musical grandson of both Groucho himself and Gus Kahn of Tin Pan Alley fame. Jim Hanna and Paul Michel are old Ohio boys; Jim honed his guitar chops in and around L.A. in the ‘70’s; Paul haunted traditional masters in Appalachia, New England and County Clare. Chip is our heart and soul, with his steady bass and testy tolerance for talking instead of picking"

It's hard to believe the farmers' market season is already here! Exactly one year ago, we were showcasing a few of our environmentally friendly products as part of the 'Green Living Day' market theme.

You probably won't see us at the market this year, however, you can still visit the Maple Valley Farmers' Market every Saturday from 9 AM to 2 PM at the new Maple Valley Legacy Site to find locally-grown produce, a beautiful assortment of flowers, and more from local vendors!
